Grooming and coat care in Ahmedabad

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With summers are long and intense, so heat management is the single biggest priority, a Pug Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the dry summer months. On a smaller coat, irritation shows up well before matting does. Walk early in the morning or after sunset when the ground is cool, never on hot pavement.

Feeding a small dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In hot semi-desert conditions water matters as much as food — summers are long and intense, so heat management is the single biggest priority, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Exercise and routine through the dry summer months in Ahmedabad

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Ahmedabad, summers are long and intense, so heat management is the single biggest priority, which makes timing the variable that matters. Several brief outings suit this size better than one long one. Walk early in the morning or after sunset when the ground is cool, never on hot pavement.

Living with a Pug Puppy in Ahmedabad

Most homes here are apartments and gated flats, so a small-sized breed that adapts to indoor living is a practical choice. In a city, the routine has to be deliberate — fixed walk times, a defined resting spot.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Ahmedabad is hottest in May, averaging 43°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to June. A Pug needs real protection from that because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 11°C. A Pug has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from July to August, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Pug puppy, the easiest months to arrive are November to December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
