The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the bird approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Feeding a small bird here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In monsoon-heavy conditions water matters as much as food — rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Space and the outdoors with a Hahn's Macaw

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a family friendly, good with kids bird the fit is usually good either way.

Is the Hahn's Macaw right for Kamalpur?

Kamalpur is monsoon-heavy — rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential — and the Hahn's Macaw is a small-sized, family friendly, good with kids breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size copes well, provided shade and water are always within reach. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

Health and vet care in Kamalpur

Preventive care in Kamalpur is largely a matter of anticipating the extended rainy season. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the bird; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.
