Is the Dusky Lorikeet right for Alipurduar - II?

Alipurduar - II is coastal tropical — the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important — and the Dusky Lorikeet is a small-sized, family friendly, good with kids breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size copes well, provided shade and water are always within reach. Dry the coat and ears thoroughly after baths or rain to prevent fungal and skin issues.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most birds eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the long monsoon rather than during it. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.
